Jason Kaune is a partner who specializes in political law and ethics, election, lobbying disclosure and campaign finance laws of the federal, state and local governments.

He advises Fortune 500 corporations, advocacy groups, individuals, non-profit organizations and governments, with a focus on establishing and maintaining national political law compliance programs. He additionally serves as counsel and professional treasurer for ballot measures on issues ranging from land use to taxes and for leading political action committees and social welfare organizations.

Since 2000 he has been a co-author and faculty for the Practising Law Institute's course on "Corporate Political Activities." Mr. Kaune also co-authors an annual national compendium of campaign finance law and litigation developments for the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws (COGEL). He has provided commentary for KTVU (Fox) on election law issues and represented clients before the California Fair Political Practices Commission, the Federal Election Commission, and numerous other state and local agencies across the country. Mr. Kaune has worked in the private and non-profit sectors, on the boards of directors for a manufacturing business start-up and religious organization, as a speech writer for a national political party in Washington, D.C., and for the presidential exploratory committee of a former state governor.

He graduated from the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government with a master in public policy, University of California, Hastings College of the Law and Yale College, cum laude and with distinction in his major. He served as an extern for a U.S. Federal District Court Judge and for the California Law Revision Commission. Mr. Kaune has published articles and written studies on international lobbying regulation, state public contracting reform, local campaign finance laws and the administration of government ethics laws by the White House Counsel's office.
